about

Since June 2022, Saransh has been running his law firm Saransh Chaturvedi & Co. and leading a team of more than 10 lawyers, advising clients on IP compliance and broader corporate mandates while representing matters in the Lucknow High Court. His practice encompasses end-to-end IP prosecution—drafting and filing patent applications, responding to examinations, and managing prosecution strategy—along with comprehensive trademark work, including search reports, replies to examination reports, oppositions, counterstatements and related procedural strategy. He has extensively represented his clients before the Hon’ble Lucknow High Court and other judicial forums. He has even appeared before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. He has been advising extensively on various civil matters for his clients. In addition to prosecution, he provides commercialization and legal consulting services that help clients align IP strategy with business objectives, creating enforceable value from innovations and brands.

Prior to establishing his firm, Saransh served as an Associate in the Trademark and Copyright team at Khurana & Khurana Advocates and IP Attorneys. In that role he worked on complex trademark prosecution and enforcement matters and prepared responses on copyright discrepancies—tasks that sharpened his technical drafting skills and exposed him to multijurisdictional IP practice and client management in a leading IP boutique. His tenure there reinforced best practices in docketing, procedural strategy, and client counselling for brand protection.

Academically, Saransh holds an LLM from the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSoIPL), IIT Kharagpur, and a BA LL.B (Hons.) from Banaras Hindu University. His LLM dissertation, Intellectual Property Strategy in Corporate Culture, earned the highest grade and reflects a sustained interest in integrating IP strategy with corporate innovation practices.

Research and publication are central to his professional profile. He has contributed scholarship to peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, including a chapter on repatriation of traditional knowledge published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis). He has authored widely read articles and columns in national outlets—The Economic Times, LiveLaw, The Daily Guardian—and analytical pieces in SCC Online, addressing topics such as patent prosecution strategy, IP audits, AI-led inventions, and the interface between IP and public policy. These publications demonstrate both subject-matter depth and the ability to translate legal analysis into practical guidance for practitioners and businesses.

Saransh’s experience extends to teaching and public engagement. He has been invited as a guest lecturer at universities and institutions, delivered workshops on IP management for start-ups, and participated in sectoral forums. These engagements reflect his capacity to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to varied audiences—students, entrepreneurs, and sector professionals.

His practical foundation was built through targeted traineeships at some of the most prestigious institutions like National Judicial Academy (judicial training and research), the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (Ministry of Law & Justice) where he worked on draft rules and legislative processes, ONGC (contract and dispute-resolution exposure), and stints with senior litigators including work in the Supreme Court and High Courts. These roles gave him direct exposure to judicial reasoning, legislative drafting, contractual vetting, and dispute resolution in institutional contexts.

Complementing his legal practice, Saransh has demonstrated leadership in editorial and event roles—editing multiple book volumes on law and society, organising large-scale academic and policy events, and serving in key positions for model parliaments and MUNs during his student years. This editorial experience underlines his attention to scholarly rigour and his ability to shepherd multidisciplinary projects from concept to publication.

In sum, Saransh offers clients a combination of prosecution-level IP technical skills, courtroom advocacy, scholarly insight, and client-facing advisory capability. He is particularly well-placed to assist start-ups, MSMEs and corporate clients that seek to embed IP strategy within broader commercial and compliance frameworks, and to navigate litigation or regulatory challenges when they arise. For inquiries related to advisory mandates, IP prosecution, or collaborative research and speaking engagements, Saransh remains accessible through his professional contacts.
